The Links Resource Base provides a community based day service within the Caerphilly County Borough for adults with a learning disability who have complex needs including autism and behaviours that may challenge. The Links Resource Base aims to provide structured individual daytime support in order to achieve positive experiences and outcomes for each person accessing the service.   The service uses a person centred approach to meet individual needs and choices and provides the appropriate structured programmes which recognises individual support requirements. The successful applicant will need to have experience of working in a learning disability setting and of working with people with a learning disability and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the cause and effects of behaviour that can challenge the service. Applicants will need to be able to adopt a motivated, committed and flexible approach to duties, which could include working in community locations/bases within the County Borough of Caerphilly. The ability to contribute and effectively implement individual management plans and risk assessments is essential and there is a requirement to complete positive behaviour management training that requires physical interventions. Bridges into Work is a successful project funded by the European Social Fund and is a collaborative project involving 5 local authorities in South Wales, which aims to engage, support and prepare the economically inactive, including those who are unemployed or on incapacity benefit, in the most deprived areas, to acquire the appropriate skills to become job ready and to gain sustainable employment. This project is linked closely to the Working Skills for Adults, Essential Skills in the Workplace, Lift and Pre-Vent KS4 projects. The Bridges into Work Creche Workers are responsible for providing high quality child care to the children of learners with caring responsibilities accessing the project. The team are based in Bargoed in a registered setting at the Bridges into Work offices. On occasion there may be a requirement to deliver mobile creches throughout the Caerphilly County Borough. The six posts are fixed term, and term time only until 31st October 2014. The role is based in Bargoed although travel throughout the borough may be required.
